Atlanta's Best Fine Dining:
Where to Make Reservations

When I'm closing a deal or taking clients out, the restaurant matters. Atlanta's dining scene has grown into something genuinely impressive — and these are the rooms I keep returning to.

Atlanta has quietly become one of the best food cities in the South. From tasting menus on Peachtree to globally-influenced kitchens in Midtown, the fine dining scene here is polished, diverse, and — importantly — approachable. You don't need a velvet jacket. You just need a reservation.

I've brought clients, friends, and family to these restaurants over the years. They're the spots I trust when the occasion calls for more than a weeknight dinner. The newest additions are Mule Train, the contemporary Southern room that opened in South Downtown in late September, and Sargent, the wood-fired brasserie from the Lucian Books & Wine team on the Eastside BeltLine. Here's where I go.

01

Nan Thai Fine Dining

1350 Spring St NW #1, Atlanta, GA 30309

An Atlanta institution for refined Thai cuisine. Nan Thai has earned its reputation through consistently excellent food, elegant plating, and an atmosphere that works as well for a client dinner as it does for a date night. The tasting menu is worth exploring — it's the kind of place that reminds you why dining out matters.

02

Lazy Betty

999 Peachtree St NE Suite #140, Atlanta, GA 30309

A Midtown fine dining spot that leans into seasonal Southern ingredients with a modern sensibility. The tasting menu changes regularly, and the wine pairings are thoughtful without being pretentious. It's intimate, well-paced, and exactly where I take someone when the conversation matters as much as the food.

03

Prime on Peachtree

1029 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309

A polished steakhouse on Peachtree that gets the fundamentals right — quality cuts, attentive service, and a wine list that covers the bases without overwhelming you. The private dining rooms make it a strong option when you need the setting to match the occasion.

04

The Consulate Restaurant

10 10th St NW Suite P200, Atlanta, GA 30309

A global-influenced restaurant in Midtown with a rotating menu that draws from cuisines around the world. The atmosphere is relaxed but refined — dark wood, warm lighting, and a cocktail program worth noting. A good pick when you want something a little different from the usual steakhouse rotation.

05

Auburn Angel

302 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303

A newer addition to the Sweet Auburn corridor, Auburn Angel brings an upscale dining experience to one of Atlanta's most historic streets. The menu is creative, the space is well-designed, and it represents the kind of energy that's revitalizing downtown Atlanta's food scene.

06

Avize

956 Brady Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

The hottest new room in Atlanta right now, and deservedly so. Chef Karl Gorline's modern Alpine kitchen in West Midtown earned Eater's Best New Restaurant nod and a Michelin recommendation, and the lemon pepper wet frog legs have become the dish everyone talks about. Reservations go quickly, which is exactly why I plan ahead when I want to take someone here.

07

M @ Umi

3050 Peachtree Rd NW, Buckhead, Atlanta, GA 30305

The most exclusive table in the city. An eight-seat, 18-course omakase counter from the team behind Umi, where the evening is guided by the chef. You don't just walk in; reservations run through Umi and the whole thing is an experience. If you want to see how far Japanese fine dining can go in Atlanta, this is it.

08

Koshu Club

99 West Paces Ferry Rd NW, Suite A, Atlanta, GA 30305

The newest room in Buckhead and one of the hardest reservations in town right now. From the team behind Michelin-starred Mujō, this 46-seat Japanese supper club leans on binchotan charcoal grilling and comfort-driven yoshoku dishes with a sake-forward bar. It opened in spring 2026, and the critics have already called it pure luxury. Book well ahead.

09

Ryokou

565 Northside Dr SW, Ste 101, Atlanta, GA 30310

A contemporary Japanese tasting counter in Adair Park from chef Leonard Yu, and one of the few Atlanta rooms to earn a Michelin Recommended nod in its first year. The kappo-style menu moves through seafood and seasonal courses with real precision, and the intimate seating means bookings go fast. It has quickly become the table I name when someone asks for a chef-led meal without leaving the city.

10

Madeira Park

640 North Highland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306

A Poncey-Highland wine bar and kitchen that's currently one of the most talked-about tables in Atlanta, sitting near the top of Resy's city hit list. The food is generous and seasonal, the wine list is smart, and the room feels warm without the usual formality. It's the kind of place that reminds you why the neighborhood is worth a visit.

11

Luella

3717 Roswell Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342

Buckhead's big dinner opening of the past year, an Italian-leaning steakhouse set in the two-story former Ivy space on Roswell Road. Wood-fired steaks, hand-cut pasta, and a rare-spirits program are served at an unhurried pace that feels genuinely fine dining without the stuffiness. It's the room people in Buckhead are talking about right now.

12

Brasserie Margot

75 14th St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309

The Four Seasons' Midtown dining room reimagined as a proper French brasserie, led by former Tiny Lou's chef Jon Novak. Steak frites, roast chicken, and a serious wine list in a hotel setting that manages to feel warm instead of formal. An easy answer when you want classic French cooking done right.

13

Ikara

361 17th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30363

A striking new Indian fine dining room at Twelve Midtown in Atlantic Station, opened in spring 2026 in the space that once held Allora. The tasting menu pairs modern Indian cooking with a room designed to slow the evening down, and it has quickly become one of the year's most talked-about openings. A strong pick when you want something beyond the usual steakhouse rotation.

14

Heritage

63 Georgia Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312

The big fine dining opening in Atlanta this month. Chef Demetrius Brown of Bread & Butterfly brought an Afro-Caribbean tasting room to Summerhill, with seasonal multi-course menus at dinner plus an à la carte lounge for a more relaxed night. Reservations run through Resy and open up to 90 days out, which tells you how fast this one is moving. It gives the south side of the city a fine dining destination all its own.

15

Ghee Indian Kitchen

1050 Howell Mill Rd, Suite 109, Atlanta, GA 30318

The Michelin-recognized Indian kitchen from Miami opened its Atlanta outpost in the Star Metals complex in West Midtown, and it has become one of the neighborhood's busiest tables. The menu is farm-to-table and built for sharing, with a multi-course tasting option that shows off the kitchen's range at a fair price. It is refined without being stuffy, and it gives West Midtown the kind of fine dining room that area has been waiting for.

16

Sozou

1020 Spring St NW, Suite 101, Atlanta, GA 30309

The newest room from the chef behind Umi, opened in August 2026 on the ground floor of Ten Twenty Spring in Midtown. Contemporary Japanese cooking in a polished setting, and it completes a trio of restaurants at the tower alongside Celestia and Ishin. It has been one of the most anticipated openings of the year, and the reservations reflect it.

17

Füm

660 11th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318

A contemporary Italian room in West Midtown's Star Metals complex from the Miami group behind Rabbit Ears. The wine list is the draw for me, and Eater's heatmap has called it a genuine hot spot since it opened in February. A smart pick for dinner before heading up to the rooftop.

18

Mule Train

87 Broad St SW, Atlanta, GA 30303

The year's most anticipated opening alongside Heritage, and it delivers. Mike and Shyretha Sheats, the couple behind the celebrated Plate Sale pop-up, opened this 40-seat contemporary Southern room in South Downtown in late September. The menu is seasonal and chef-driven, the room is intimate, and it gives South Downtown a fine dining anchor of its own. With just 40 seats, reservations matter.

19

Sargent

405 N Angier Ave NE, Suite 220, Atlanta, GA 30308

The Lucian Books & Wine team's second act, an American brasserie on the Eastside BeltLine in Old Fourth Ward that opened in August. Wood-fired, elevated American and French cooking in a bookstore-meets-restaurant setting, and it landed on Resy's Atlanta Hit List almost immediately. It is the kind of room that makes an evening on the BeltLine feel complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which restaurant is best for a business dinner or client meeting?

Prime on Peachtree gets the fundamentals right: quality cuts, attentive service, and private dining rooms that make the setting match the occasion. Nan Thai works as well for a client dinner as it does for a date night. When the conversation matters as much as the food, Lazy Betty's intimate, well paced room is a strong choice.

Is there a truly exclusive table in Atlanta if I want the full experience?

M @ Umi is the most exclusive table in the city: an eight seat, 18 course omakase counter guided by the chef and reserved through Umi. It is not a walk in, and that is the point. Book well ahead and treat the evening as an experience rather than a meal.

How far in advance do I need to book dinner?

Plan ahead for the newer rooms especially. Avize is one of the hottest tables in town and reservations go quickly, and Koshu Club has been one of the hardest reservations in Atlanta since it opened in spring 2026. Madeira Park, Ryokou, and the tasting menus at Lazy Betty also reward booking a couple of weeks out.

Which restaurant is best for a date night or anniversary?

Lazy Betty is intimate and well paced, built for occasions where the conversation matters. Madeira Park brings a warm, unforced atmosphere with generous seasonal food and a smart wine list. For something unforgettable, M @ Umi turns the evening itself into the gift.

Are there fine dining options outside Buckhead and Midtown?

Yes. Auburn Angel brings an upscale experience to the Sweet Auburn corridor downtown, Avize anchors West Midtown, Madeira Park sits in Poncey-Highland, Ryokou is tucked into Adair Park, and Ikara anchors Atlantic Station. The list spreads across the city, so you can find a fitting room no matter which neighborhood you are in or moving toward.

Do I need to dress up for Atlanta fine dining?

You do not need a velvet jacket. Atlanta's fine dining scene is polished but approachable, and business casual works at most of these rooms. For M @ Umi and Koshu Club, err on the dressier side. In every case, a reservation matters more than a tie.
