Atlanta's Best Cocktail Bars:
The Spots Worth Booking
Craft cocktail bars, hidden speakeasies, and the best patios in the city. Atlanta's bar scene rewards curiosity — and these are the spots I keep coming back to.
Atlanta's cocktail scene doesn't get the national attention it deserves. For a city this size, the number of genuinely well-crafted bar programs is remarkable — and they span every neighborhood and price point. Whether you're into speakeasy aesthetics or open-air patios, there's a spot that fits.
I've spent years navigating Atlanta's nightlife, sometimes with clients celebrating a closing and sometimes with friends on a weeknight. These are the bars I recommend when someone asks where to get a properly made drink. The newest additions are Irish Exit, the Dead Rabbit Group's first Atlanta outpost at Centennial Yards, and Bodega Bar, the NYC-inspired room in Sylvan Hills that The Infatuation has already named among the city's best new openings.
Red Phone Booth
A downtown speakeasy that takes its craft seriously — you enter through a red British phone booth and step into a leather-and-wood lounge with a Prohibition-era feel. The cocktail menu is extensive, the bartenders know their craft, and the atmosphere rewards patience. This is the kind of place I bring someone when I want them to experience Atlanta's hidden side.
12 Cocktail Bar
Tucked inside Ponce City Market, 12 Cocktail Bar is a small, thoughtful space that lets the drinks do the talking. The bartenders are precise, the ingredients are fresh, and the menu changes with the seasons. No gimmicks — just well-made cocktails in a setting that doesn't try too hard.
The Forum Cocktail Co
A Westside cocktail bar with a modern, industrial feel and a drink program built around seasonal ingredients and technique. The space is designed for conversation — no blaring music, no competing with the bartender. It's the kind of bar that makes you feel like you found something the rest of the city hasn't caught up to yet.
RFD Social
A social house at Ponce City Market with a relaxed, community-driven atmosphere. The drink menu leans classic with a few creative twists, and the outdoor seating overlooks the BeltLine — which means you're sipping a well-made cocktail while watching Atlanta's most vibrant pedestrian corridor go by. Hard to beat on a warm evening.
Close Company Bar
The buzziest new cocktail room in the city, from the team behind Death & Co in Old Fourth Ward. It's relaxed and unpretentious, with none of the velvet-rope energy, and refreshingly affordable at around nine dollars a drink. The kind of bar where the bartenders take the craft seriously but the room never feels like it's trying too hard.
Redacted Basement Drink Parlor
A subterranean, conspiracy-themed speakeasy in Summerhill that feels a little like finding a secret you weren't supposed to know about. The entrance is around the side of the building and below street level, and the drinks are inventive, from a Froot Loop milk punch to sharp seasonal numbers. It's playful, well made, and a genuinely fun night out.
Bar ANA
A late-night dessert and cocktail bar tucked below El Ponce in Poncey-Highland, from a James Beard-nominated pastry chef. It opened in late 2025 and has quickly become the spot for a proper nightcap, pairing sharp, well-built cocktails with desserts that hold their own. A good choice when you want the evening to end well.
Y Bar e Ristorante
Buckhead Village's newest late-night room, a 1960s Italian-riviera styled cocktail bar and restaurant from the team behind Yeppa & Co. The drinks are sharp, the room is stylish, and it stays open well past when most Atlanta bars close. It opened this summer and already has the feel of a place that will be around for years.
Buddy Buddy
A Midtown martini bar from veteran Atlanta bartender Nick Chaivarlis, built around classic cocktails done precisely, with Greek street food on the side at Midtown Promenade. No gimmicks, just the cocktail fundamentals executed with care. A welcome addition to the neighborhood's evening scene.
La Cueva
Ponce City Market's newest speakeasy slipped in quietly in June 2026, tucked behind a barbershop on the food hall's second floor. It is mezcal forward, with small plates and live music most nights, and the low light and textured walls make it feel like you left the building entirely. Reservations are worth making; the room stays busy.
Bar Incognito
A late-night cocktail bar in West Midtown from the team behind El Santo Gallo, tucked into the former Fishmonger space on Howell Mill. It opened in June and has quickly become one of the city's most talked-about after-dark rooms, with serious drinks, weekend DJ sets, and a playful personality that keeps the energy up well past midnight. The kind of place that makes you want to stay out a little longer.
Read the Room
A coffee bar and vinyl record shop by day that turns into a cocktail bar and listening room at night, just off the Eastside BeltLine in Old Fourth Ward. It opened in the spring and has become the spot for people who want good drinks with music that sets the right mood. It is an easy stop on a BeltLine walk and a welcome addition to the neighborhood's evening scene.
The Westwood
A Westview bar and grill that opened in late 2025 and has already earned a spot on The Infatuation's best bars in Atlanta. The cocktails are serious and the room is neighborhood-first, the kind of place that gives the west side of the city a nightlife anchor of its own.
Anansi Cocktail Lounge
Decatur's standout cocktail lounge and one of the top new bars of 2026, named among the city's essential cocktail spots by the AJC. The drinks are inventive and the room is intimate, which makes it a good reason to plan an evening on the Square.
Irish Exit
The Dead Rabbit Group's first Atlanta outpost, an Irish pub at Centennial Yards that opened in June. The New York team behind it built its name on serious cocktails, and the downtown room carries that standard with a proper whiskey program and a warm, wood-heavy setting. It sits just off State Farm Arena, which makes it a natural stop before or after a game or show.
Bodega Bar ATL
A NYC-inspired neighborhood bar that grew from a pop-up into a brick-and-mortar in Sylvan Hills, and The Infatuation has already named it among the city's best new openings. The room is small, the drinks are serious, and the late-night hours give the southwest side of the city a proper cocktail destination.
